  • Pre-recorded sessions about starting your practice, covering:

    • The practicalities of working in private practice

    • Consultation observations

    • Paperwork and legalities

  • In depth guide to support you in setting up your practice.

  • Templates for common resources such as intake forms, consultation reports and debriefs (more details below!)

Mentorship option also includes:

  • Whats app community group for ongoing connection to other IBCLCs

  • Facebook group with in depth case studies and other professional development opportunities

  • 10 group coaching calls throughout the year

What is included?

Full transparency is important to me, so here is a full list of all the course resources you will have access to:

Module 1:

  • 4 videos - registering as self employed, setting your fees, setting your terms and conditions, insurance.

  • 2 templates for you to copy or adapt - Terms and Conditions and intake form.

  • A fee setting worksheet

Module 2:

  • 4 videos - What I carry for home visits, emergency car kit, writing reports, communicating with other professionals

  • A record of professional contact for you to print or download and use

  • The pros and cons of scales PDF

Module 3:

  • 2 recorded Zoom consultations - one of which is to demonstrate oral assessment

  • A reflections worksheet 

Bonus module:

  • 1 video - networking

  • Information about social media and marketing 

  • Social media templates for Instagram and Facebook

PLUS: a 17 page course handbook with more information about everything discussed and more including:

  • Personal safety

  • A sample letter to a GP

  • How to set and maintain boundaries

  • An example availability policy

When you sign up for the Mentoring Membership, you receive all of the above plus:

  • Access to a Facebook group with weekly case studies, and where you can share your own case questions or worries. 

  • 10 group mentoring sessions with Lucy, over Zoom - sessions start at the end of April and will run monthly until April 2025, with breaks in August and December.

  • A WhatsApp group for chat and community building with your course peers and Lucy

  • I understand there is a LOT to consider when starting your private practice. We will discuss how to register as self-employed, GDPR requirements and how to meet legal requirements, setting fees, writing documents such as terms and conditions, and payment policies. I will also guide you in setting up your intake forms and safe storing of data.

  • I do not offer a trial for this course for a few reasons. The most important being, that it is important to me that each cohort is able to connect as a community - this isn’t possible if people are joining and leaving at different times.

  • Monthly coaching sessions will be recorded and shared within our private area only. While this means you can catchup when life happens, I thoroughly encourage you to join live where you can - our discussions often go off on interesting tangents and the community is always happy to support you.
